ABSTRACT
Space Rovers are widely used for Planetary Exploration. They are designed to travel through difficult terrain easily and are cost-effective comparedto Human Space Exploration Missions and also can be employed for longer periods. In this paper we are going to discuss an Autonomous Rover that can operate for extended periods, allowing scientists to gather data over a longer period on extraterrestrial surfaces.A Rover designed in SolidWorks and equipped witha rocker-bogie mechanism,a Robotic arm with a bucket to collect the sample, a Drilling unit to drill colloidal substances, and a Collision avoidance and Object detection mechanism to prevent collisions and detect possible samples is used to collect the soil samples and test the same. The main purpose of the rover is to collect various samples from extraterrestrial surfaces, use different types of sensors to analyze those test samples, and determine whether the sample is preferable for scientific purposes. For this purpose, we are using Temperature and Soil Moisture sensors. The data collected can be potentially used to determine the habitability of a planet, the potential for life, and also information about the water content on the extraterrestrial surface.
