Development and Formulation of Toothpaste Using Cissus Quadrangular is and Effectiveness of Antimicrobial Activity

 ABSTRACT

Oral hygiene is a major thing for human beings. The day to day life for humans starts with oralcleaning. So, toothpaste plays an important role. In this case, development & toothpaste formulation using medicinal herbs will be considered as better when we compared with commercial synthetic toothpaste. The herbal toothpaste consists of Cissus quadragularis (veld grape) and Syzygium aromaticum (clove). The veld grape and clove are natural product which is now a day frequently used in the field of medicine. Actually, the veld grape has anti –inflammatory, anti – microbial, anti – bacterial properties. It has high calcium content which is necessary for strengthening of tooth. In the present study, the clove acts as a flavouring agent. It is especially essential for oral health. Clinical research indicates that clove oil can relieve tooth pain and bad breath, as well as help to reduce gum disease. Clove oil also has the natural ability to restrict the development of bacteria and can help to fight against mouth and throat infections. It has an anti – microbial and anti – inflammatory. Clove contains a strong anaestetic known as eugenol which similarly works as an anti – septic to fight against bacteria that may cause infections. That is why cloves are so effective at fighting cavities and are often added to oral products such as toothpaste. Its various phytocomponents having various biological properties that help to improve health and prevent conditions.
