Author Name : Dr. Mrs. Mita Bhatnagar

ABSTRACT

Disability is a multifaceted aspect of human existence, and its portrayal in literature holds great significance. This paper examines the portrayals, perspectives, and progress related to disability in literature. It explores how disability has been represented in literary works, the various perspectives through which disability is presented, and the progress made in promoting inclusivity and diversity in literary representations of disability. Through a comprehensive analysis of both classic and contemporary literature, this paper aims to shed light on the complexities and nuances of disability representation and the impact it has on shaping societal perceptions. By examining the evolution of disability portrayals in literature, this study also highlights the strides made in promoting inclusivity, challenging stereotypes, and offering more authentic and diverse representations of disabled characters. The findings of this research contribute to a deeper understanding of the intersection between disability and literature, and the role that literature plays in shaping perceptions and fostering social change.
