E-Governance in India: A Special Study of Himachal Pradesh

ABSTRACT E-Governance refers to the use of digital technologies, information, communication technologies in government operations and processes. It aims to improve the efficiency, transparency, accessibility and accountability of the government services and interactions with citizens. It involves using online platforms, digital systems, and databases to streamline government processes, enhance public service delivery and facilitate citizen participation. In this paper various steps and initiatives taken by the government with special reference to Himachal Pradesh are studied in detail. Himachal Pradesh is the state which won the national award for e-governance in 2017-18. NIC Himachal Pradesh have won five e-governance CSI awards, which have been recommended by the project team of NIC HP in New Delhi on March 25, 2023. These awards were conferred during the 20th CSI e-governance award ceremony held in New Delhi.
