ABSTRACT
Arbuscular mycorrhizal associations are the most frequent symbiotic association found in nature having cosmopolitan distribution. In natural ecosystems, a great diversity of AMF colonizes terrestrial plants. Various environmental factors (climatic, edaphic) and biotic factors play a vital role in determining the distribution and density of mycorrhiza in soil. The study was done in industrial sites in Kota district of Rajasthan, India to analyze the status of diversity and distribution of mycorrhiza. Results of the study show that species richness, diversity, and evenness were found lower than in the non-industrial area in the study area. Based on the present investigation, it can be concluded that disturbance in the soil due to industrial activity may be the reason for lower species richness, lower diversity, and uneven distribution of the mycorrhiza species.
Keywords: Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, industrial wastelands, diversity, spore density.
