Edge Impulse: An Edge Computing Platform for Artificial Intelligence Research

ABSTRACT

This research paper introduces Edge Impulse, an edge computing platform specifically designed for artificial intelligence (AI) research. With the proliferation of AI applications and the growing need for real-time data processing, traditional cloud-based approaches face challenges in terms of latency, bandwidth limitations, and privacy concerns. Edge Impulse addresses these challenges by enabling AI model development, deployment, and inferencing at the edge of the network, closer to the data source. This paper presents an overview of the Edge Impulse platform, its key features, and its applications in AI research. Furthermore, it highlights the benefits of utilizing Edge Impulse in terms of reduced latency, improved scalability, enhanced privacy, and increased efficiency in resource utilization. Several use cases are presented to demonstrate the platform's versatility and effectiveness in various domains of AI research. The paper concludes with a discussion on the future directions and potential advancements in edge computing and AI research using the Edge Impulse platform.
