Effect of Self Management Relaxation Technique (SMRT) on Anger-Expression of Purple Collar Workers
Author Name : Dr. Neeta Gupta
ABSTRACT
The present study has tried to explore the effect of Self Management Relaxation Technique (SMRT) on Anger-Expression of Purple Collar Workers. The data was collected on 100 male Purple Collar Workers who were selected randomly from different organizations of Lucknow, UP. Only those respondents were chosen for the study who reported high anger expression. For this the Anger Expression scale (AX) by Speilberger(1999) was used to assess the anger expression of the respondents. This scale also measured Anger-IN (AX-IN) and Anger-OUT (AX-OUT) and Anger Control (AX-CON). It was hypothesized that SMRT: Self Management Relaxation Technique would significantly reduce AX-IN, AX-OUT and would increase AX-CON. The results of the present study have revealed that SMRT helped in reducing anger expression and also it helped in controlling anger. These results have supported the hypothesis of the present study. The present study would be very important for the policy makers and guidance and counseling professionals as excessive anger can cause problems. Increased blood pressure and other physical changes associated with anger make it difficult to think straight and harm a person’s physical and mental health leading to poor productivity.
