Author Name : A. Annadurai, Dr. R. Elangovan

ABSTRACT

The Present random group experimental study was designed to find out the effect of Simplified Kundalini Yoga on Selected Biochemical variables among middle aged obese college boys.  To achieve the purpose of the study, 30 obese college boys were selected from Chennai city at randomly by using random group sampling design.  They were in the age group of 35-50 years.  They were randomly divided into two groups and each group contained fifteen subjects.  Experimental group was trained in Simplified Kundalini Yoga and Control group were kept in active rest.  It was hypothesized that the Simplified Kundalini Yoga would improve the selected variables such as Blood Sugar and Low Density Lipoprotein among the middle aged obese college boys.  Thus the hypothesis was accepted at 0.05 level of Confidence.  Experimental group was trained on alternative days every week for 12 weeks excluding Sunday.  Experimental group was trained on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for the complete 12 weeks.  The Control group received no training.  After the 12th week, post test score were collected from both the Experimental group and the Control Group and the obtained data was subjected no statistical treatment using ANCOVA.  It was concluded that Blood Sugar and Low-Density Lipoprotein were decreased in the subjects due to the Simplified Kundalini Yoga than the Control group.
