Effect of Visual Cues in Upper Body Dressing for Non Communication Children

ABSTRACT
Non-communication, Communication without the use of spoken language.Nonverbal communication includes gestures, facial expressions, and body position, as well as unspoken understandings that may affectany encounter between children. Children speak their language through various cues and gestures. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of visual cues in upper body dressing for non-communication children.The study was done among quasi experimental design and non -communication children with upper body dressing in the age group of 4 to 7 years in kiddos rehab center, child development center SIMATS, Let's speak multidisciplinary Chennai. Totally thirty(30) children were selected by inclusion criteria and divided into two groups 15 in control group, 15 in experimental group. The control group was underwent conventional occupational therapy and the experimental group underwent visual cues activities. The pretest and post test of both groups assessed by weefim scale. The post-tests were taken after3 months of intervention by asking the parents about the dressing skills.The mann whitney U test and wilcoxon test was used to analyze the data.Statistical analysis showed a significant difference in the experimental group after receiving visual cues for upper body dressing (P-value 0.001)The study concluded that the visual cues in upper body dressing for non-communication children have a considerable effect.
