ABSTRACT Background: Photodermatitis, also known as sun allergy, is a skin condition triggered by exposure to sunlight. Conventional treatments often provide limited relief and can have adverse effects. This case report explores homoeopathy as an alternative treatment for photodermatitis. Case Presentation: A 45-year-old male presented with recurrent episodes of intense itching, redness, and blistering on Scalp and face after sun exposure. The patient had a history of sensitivity to sunlight and had tried various conventional treatments with minimal relief. A diagnostic workup confirmed the diagnosis of photodermatitis. Homoeopathic Treatment Approach: A comprehensive homoeopathic assessment was conducted, and individualised remedies were selected based on the patient's symptoms and overall health. The treatment plan included the Homoeopathic remedy Natrum Muriaticum, administered in appropriate dosages. Progress and Follow-Up: The patient improved significantly within the first few weeks of treatment. Follow-up visits involved monitoring symptoms, adjusting remedies, and managing occasional flare-ups. The patient adhered to the treatment plan and reported increased tolerance to sunlight over time. Outcome: After 9 months of treatment and 5 months of observation. The patient experienced a substantial reduction in symptoms with no recurrence of severe episodes. The long-term follow-up indicated sustained improvement and better quality of life. Discussion: This case highlights the potential of homoeopathy in managing photodermatitis, offering an effective and safe alternative to conventional treatments. The mechanisms by which homoeopathy alleviates symptoms are discussed, along with a review of relevant literature. The limitations and challenges of this approach are also addressed. Conclusion: Homeopathy provided significant relief for this patient with photodermatitis, suggesting its utility as a complementary or alternative treatment. Further research is warranted to establish its efficacy and mechanisms of action in larger populations.
