Effectiveness of Buerger-Allen Exercise on Lower Extremities Perfusion among Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
Author Name : G. Deebika, Dr. S. Senthil Kumar
ABSTRACT
Background: Diabetes mellitus raises the danger. One common side effect is peripheral vascular disease, which provokes epithelial and involuntary muscle cell impairment in the peripheral arteries and reduces patient foot vascularization. Buerger-Allen exercise is a simple way for diabetic patients to improve their microcirculation. It is an effective postural activity that allows to occupy and drained the lower - limb blood flow based on gravity alternative solutions. Hence the need of the research is to determine the efficacy of this exercise on lower - limb blood circulation in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients.
Methods: The inclusion criteria and ABI score were applied to select 30 diabetes patients. The demographic details such as name, age, residual address, occupation and on set of diabetes are collected with permission of the subjects. Patients were treated with buerger-allen exercise for lower limbcirculation. The pre-test values of ABI score and same were recorded for post-test after 4 weeks of intervention.
Result: The results revealed that the Buergers-Allen exercise had a significant change on the pre-test and post-test values of the ABI rating. After the intervention, there was a considerable difference in lower limb circulation.
Conclusion: The research findings indicate that buerger-allen exercise helped people with type 2 diabetes mellitus patients who had poor lower - limb blood circulation.
