ABSTRACT This article addresses the significant gap between urban and rural higher education in India, highlighting the challenges faced by rural institutions, including inadequate infrastructure, limited digital access, and socioeconomic barriers. With rural areas housing nearly 65% of the population, improving higher education access is crucial for equitable development. Key issues such as low enrollment rates, high dropout rates, and teacher shortages are explored. The article proposes strategies to bridge the gap, including enhancing infrastructure, expanding digital access, improving teacher training, increasing financial support, and fostering public-private partnerships. Implementing these strategies is essential for empowering rural students and promoting inclusive growth.
