Enhanced License plate localization and segmentation based on morphological Operations

ABSTRACT The automatic number plate recognition is the process to capture the string lies in the image of the number plate. It is the image of the number plate is taken by high quality optical device. The proposed methodology is supposed to run on the image with different intensity value, fewer of the images are having double intensity values are being process successfully. The proposed methodology is having higher success level and higher-level accuracy. The proposed algorithm is having success rate of 97% over the whole dataset images. There is enhancement of around 2.1% over the existing technique. Adaptive threshold reduced the impact of uneven luminance regions through a Binarization process. Discontinuous and salt and pepper noise are filtered through opening and closing operations. A method to determine appropriate SE dimensions for the morphological operations is used for optimization purposes.
