Entrepreneurship – Implications on Women Empowerment

ABSTRACT

Entrepreneurship has emerged as an important ingredient in the economic development of the country like India. Entrepreneurship is addressing one of the major issues in the country i.e., unemployment. Women constitute around half of the total world population and also in India. They are regarded as the better half of the society.  Empowerment of womenespecially rural women has emerged as an important issue in the present economic scenario. The economic empowerment of rural women is being regarded these days as a very popular sign of progress for a country.The present study focuses on how entrepreneurship has empowered and affected the personal life of women in rural Telangana. The study is conducted using a structured questionnaire and face-to-face interview and snowball sampling with 60 women entrepreneurs through snowball sampling technique focusing on Medak District of Telangana state.It was found from the study that entrepreneurship has lead empowerment among the rural women by improving their self confidence in handling their businesses effectively.
