Environmental Health Monitoring System
Author Name : Chaitanya. N, Selvi. M
ABSTRACT This paper will be presenting architecture for an environmental health monitoring system. Environmental health refers to those aspects of human health which can be determined by environmental factors which are chemical, physical, etc in nature. The architecture involves the use of participatory sensors, where any interested user can use the IoT system through the internet. All the participating user devices would be sharing the data they collected through their sensors. Then, a set of required operations would be performed on this data to gain understandable knowledge. The knowledge gained would include various environmental health factors like average background radiation, average air quality, etc. This knowledge will be used to draw conclusions that are shared back to all the participating users. The conclusions would include: Presenting to the user if the location is safe to be at, Rating the safety of the location, rating the accuracy of the presented conclusions from the acquired data. Deciding if the location is safe to be at would require the use of natural facts like the amount of background radiation that is ‘ok’ for a human being to be at, the quality of air which is good for humans, etc. The rating of the location’s safety would be done by performing a certain mathematical function using the knowledge and the natural fact. The accuracy of the presented conclusions would be given through certain mathematical operations on the standard deviation from the mean of the gained knowledge.
