ABSTRACT The extraction of essential oils from herbal plants is investigated in this work to treat dental problems. The study's main objectives are to discover essential oils' components, optimize extraction processes, and assess the oils' antibacterial qualities. Establishing a scientific foundation for the creation of safe, natural remedies for oral health with essential oils obtained from plants is the aim. Herbal medications have been shown to have broad biological effects, including anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, analgesic, antifungal, and antioxidant activities, when used to treat oral illnesses. Studies examining clove oil's antibacterial properties have demonstrated encouraging outcomes against an assortment of dental caries-causing bacteria, such as Streptococcus mutans. In addition to showing strong antibacterial activity, cinnamon oil may also have anti-inflammatory qualities that help lessen gum irritation brought on by tooth decay. Ajwain oil, a lesser-known component, has demonstrated potential as an adjuvant therapy due to its antibacterial and analgesic effects, and peppermint oil, well-known for its cooling feeling and pleasant aroma, has demonstrated antimicrobial action against oral infections. Through a variety of strategies, including promoting dental health and preventing and treating oral disorders, plants are utilized to maintain oral hygiene. Therefore, a notable benefit of these herbal formulations is the use of medicinal herbs to enhance dental hygiene and oral health.
