ABSTRACT
Raktapitta is an Aashukari (Acute) RaktapradoshajVyadhiand can be considered as one of the life threatening disorder. When Pitta Dosha, is vitiated Pitta combines with Rakta (LohitSansarg), and vitiates RaktaDhatu(LohitPradushan).Pitta having similar odoure and colour like Rakta (LohitasamanGandha Rasa Varna) after vitiation owing to this relationship, the Vyadhiis addressed as Raktapitta.This is a bleeding disorder where in the Rakta(blood)vitiated by Pitta flows out of the orifices(openings) of the body.Bleeding occurs due to some internal cause or as an effect of some chronic diseases and importantly in the absence of any injury. Hence the mechanism of oozing excess DushtaRakta with Pitta is called as Raktapitta.
