Author Name : Kinjal Chakraborty

ABSTRACT This paper explores John Dewey’s philosophy of experiential learning and its relationship with metacognition. Dewey’s educational theories emphasize learning through direct experience, which has significant implications for how learners think about and regulate their own cognitive processes— referred to as metacognition. By analyzing Dewey’s principles of experiential learning alongside the concept of metacognition, this paper highlights how integrating these concepts can enhance educational practices and improve learning outcomes. Deweys’s pragmatic practice is basically emphasized the practical implications and the practice leads the effect of reflection. So the reflection is very much important for navigating the innovative ideas and divergent thinking (Guilford, 1963).According to Donald schon there are so many levels of reflection. In his book “The reflective practitioner” he classified as technical rationality, knowledge in action, reflection in action and reflection on action.
