ABSTRACT The Active and Passive Damping Methods for Optimal System performance in order to improve system dependability and efficiency Both passive damping, which depends on the characteristics of the material, and active damping, which applies counteracting forces in real time using sensors, actuators, and controllers, are covereda number of active-passive damping techniques utilizing viscoelastic and piezoelectric materials have been investigated. The ability to combine high-performance, modal-selective, adaptive piezoelectric active control with the dependability, affordability, and durability of viscoelastic damping treatments is the primary impetus for these hybrid damping systems. However, the relative positions of the viscoelastic and piezoelectric materials significantly affect the active-passive damping effectiveness. In this study, the active-passive damping treatments are topologically and structurally optimized.
