Fingerprint Verification using Image Segmentation in MATLAB

ABSTRACT Because of its ease of use, outstanding user approval, and durability, fingerprint-based personal verification has rapidly entered the biometric family. Using numerous wavelet transform techniques, this project proposes a fingerprint-based identification system based on textural data. In the feature class, the transforms assigned have been interpreted for their individual as well as combined performances. Biorthogonal, Symlet, and Discrete Meyer wavelets were used during the analysis. The wavelet evaluation is done out on 500 images captured using a locally developed photogrammetric network. Over the course of six months, 500 fingerprints from 50 users with ten classifications each were acquired and reviewed for the proposed system's competence. The experimental results obtained from the data have shown that the proposed method is feasible as it has a GAR of 97.12%.
