Formation of Utopian and Dystopian Societies in Postmodern Texts: A Comparison between British and Indian English Fiction

ABSTRACT
The main purpose of this research paper is to investigate the utopian and dystopian societies in the postmodern British and Indian English Fiction. Utopian fiction portrays a setting that agrees with the author's ethos , having various attributes of another reality intended to appear readers .Dystopian fiction offers the opposite portrayal of setting that completely disagrees with authors ethos .Some novels combine both genres while others either utopian or dystopian genre.To enquire such genres , some of thenovels of postmodern writers are selected for analysis.
