ABSTRACT Tablets of Diclofenac Sodium was prepared by using lactose, Mg. stearate, talc and PVP. The Preformulation studies such as tapped density, bulk density, angle of repose, Hausner’s ratio, particle size, loss on drying, homogeneity index, Carr’s index, powder flow. The Evaluation of tablets involves physical characteristics like color, Odour, shape, texture, taste and other evaluation test involves like hardness, weight variation friability, and drug content. In-vitro release of drug was performed in Phosphate Buffer System having pH 6.8 for 4 hours. All the physical characteristics of the fabricated tablet were within acceptable limits. The SeDeM system is a useful tool for the characterization of excipients with respect totheirsuitability for direct compression. It provides an index of good compressibility (ICG) of material indicating its aptitude to be compressed by direct compression Different excipients were analysed by experimental studies of SeDeM parameters and graphical expression (SeDeM Diagram) to determine whether they were suitable for direct compression. Mathematical equation and properties of excipients were used to identify the best excipient and the optimum amount to be used in the formulation. The results confirm that the SeDeM method is effective tool for development of tablets by direct compression, The application of SeDeM expert system enables selecting excipients with in order to optimize the formula in the Preformulation and formulation studies
