ABSTRACT
The floating tablets of To facitinib Citrate were prepared by wet granulation method using effervescent approach. Sodium Alginate, Xanthan Gum and Guar Gum was used as the sustained release polymer and sodium bicarbonate was used as a gas generating agents. It was seen that increasing the concentration of polymer decreased the drug release profile and increased floating lag time. Increasing the amount of sodium bicarbonate decreased the floating lag time. Hence from the present study, it can be concluded that Xanthan Gum a sustained release polymer and sodium bicarbonate as a gas generating agent in appropriate concentration can be used to develop sustained release floating tablets of Tofacitinib Citrate. Such system can remain buoyant for 12 hours along with the sustained drug release for the same duration.
