Formulation Development And Evaluation of Potassium Iodide Fast Disintegrating Tablet

ABSTRACT During nuclear or radiological emergencies potassium iodide used for thyroide protection. Increased in synthesis and secretion of thyroid harmone from thyroid gland termed as Hyperthyroidism. oral solid dosage forms like tablet are popular because of ease of administration, accurate dosage, self medication, pain avoidance and most importantly patient compliance.Fast disintegrating tabletfulfill these need , disintegrate within 15 sec. to 3 min. Potassium Iodide tablet prepared by taking percentage of superdisintigrant like crosspovidone , microcrystalline cellulose , polyethylene glycol 6000. Powder blend were evaluated for various parameters like angle of repose, bulk density, tapped density, compressibility index, Hausner’s ratio. Directly compressed tablets were analyzed for the uniformity of drug content, thickness, hardness, weight variation, friability and in-vitro dissolution study. F8 formulation showed maximum drug release of 96 %. The stability studies of the optimized formulation F8 tablets revealed that there was no significant change in the physical parameters when stored at temperature and humidity conditions of 40±2°C/75±5 % RH and at room temperature.
