ABSTRACT
Molar Incisor hypomineralization is a qualitative defect of enamel associated with hypomineralized first permanent molars as well as incisors, caused by multiple factors. Affected molars are associated with demarcated opacities which vary in color from white to brown, resembling discolored discolored chalk or old dutch cheese. Clinical difficulties associated with MIH include dental caries, failure of anesthesia and failure of restoration and managing such patients require a variety of approaches, materials and techniques. Hypomineralized enamel defects are one of the clinical problems and should be regarded as a public health problem which brings painful consequences and poor esthetics. Thus, good understanding of the etiology, early diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan is essential for the successful management of MIH. This review discusses the important aspect of MIH including its prevalence, diagnosis, etiology and treatment.
