Green Synthesis of gold Nanoparticles using aqueous extract of Curcuma longa

Author Name : Dhanyaraj. D, A. Akhila Thomas, Shibu Joseph S.T

ABSTRACT

The synthesis of gold nanoparticles (Au-NPs) is performed by the reduction of aqueous gold metal ions in contact with the aqueous extract of the plant, Curcuma longa. Using UV-visible spectroscopy, the gold nanoparticles had an absorption peak in the range of 540–550 nm. Mostly spherical shaped particles with size range of 15-20 nm are measured using transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The peaks produced by the FTIR findings are closely connected to phenol, alkanes, aliphatic amine, secondary alcohol, and aromatic amines compounds, indicating that they may serve as a reducing agent. This method is environmentally safe without the use of synthetic materials which is highly potential in biomedical applications.
