ABSTRACT
The present study used gas chromatography mass spectrum and FTIR technique to analyze the bioactive compound present in the plant of Sphaeranthus indicus Ethanolic extract. The FT-IR spectrum confirmed the presence of alcohol, alkenes, aliphatic, aldehyde, carbon dioxide, aromatic compound. The GC-MS analysis of ethanolic plant extract yielded various peaks indicating the presence of 25 phytochemical components. The major phytoconsituents were Ethanone,1-(7-hydroxy-5-methoxy-2,2-dimethyl-2H-1-benzopyran-8-yl)- (35.75), Propyphenazone (35.75), Squalene (6.33), 5-Methyl-2-phenylindolizine (5.25), 1,4-Benzenedicarboxylic acid, bis (2-ethylhexyl) ester (4.41), Methanamine, N,N-dimethyl-, N-oxide (4.30), Benzene, 2-(1,1-dimethylethyl)-1,4-dimethoxy- (3.83), Silane, (3-chlorophenyloxy) dimethylethox (3.56) and Benzo[h]quinoline, 2,4-dimethyl- (3.37). It has been demonstrated through the findings that the plant ethanolic extract contains significant bioactive compound, and it is possible that these constituents are responsible for the pharmacological activities.
