Identity A Major Reflux in Mistress by Anita Nair

Author Name : Madhumeeta Mrityunjay Singh

ABSTRACT

Anita Nair is one of the finest women writers of modern India. Anita Nair was born at Mundakotta kurissi near Shornur in Kerala. She was brought up in a suburb in Madras. Her father worked in factories. Her grandparents who lived in Kerala were the reason for Anita Nair to make frequent visits to Kerala and such visits made her to know the heart of rural Kerala. She did her B.A. in English Language and Literature in a small town Othapalam, in Kerala. It has been rightly said that one who has not suffered a pain can never express and understands it’s deep impact and Anita Nair being a woman of strong and thoughtful perspective have aptly described the plight of women in this male dominated society. Her novels were never meant to be a cakewalk to the wonderland but has given us an aisle to walk on and experience the lives of women in India and the shallow minded patriarchal society which never ever miss a chance to demean this awesome creature of God. All the five novels ‘The Better Man’, ‘Ladies Coupe’, ‘Mistress’, ‘Lessons in Forgetting’ and ‘Cut Like Wound’ have a typical regional ambience of Kerala except the two novels.
