Impact of Absenteeism on Academic Performance of the Student

ABSTRACT

No society is optimally functional until it is properly educated. In the global perspective, it is an undeniable fact that the progress of a nation is very much dependent on the education of its citizens. In this era, knowledge is very important to mankind who wants to succeed and gets a good job in the future. For those who want to survive in this competitive world, holding a good qualification in education is the main key. Today students need to face a high level of competitions to enter in any field. Attendance in college is important because students are more likely to succeed in academics when they attend school consistently. It is not possible for teachers and students to develop skills and academic capabilities if large numbers of students are frequently absent. In addition to falling behind in academics, students who are not in college on a regular basis are more likely to get into trouble with the law and cause problems in their communities. Presently college attendance and students absenteeism had turn into one of the major problems faced by the universities. This paper is an attempt to analyse the impact of absenteeism on students achievement.
