Iot Based Smart Street Light and Traffic Light With Uninterruptable Power Supply

ABSTRACT : This paper illustrates an intelligent system for the street light and the traffic light. In intelligent street light system, the LED lights are used where the light intensity is varied by turning the LEDs on/off depending upon the movement of the vehicle approaching towards or leaving the light post. Also, an IoT system is designed to communicate the service personnel automatically in case of any street light failure. A sensory technology is used to make street lights on, during the night time only, which conserves the usage of electrical energy. The service personnel also have facility to control the time of operation of street lights from the mobile application. The automatic traffic management system is a crucial component in a smart city. The traffic congestion happens when there is a power failure of main source to the traffic light management system for a longer time. In this research, a smart system is developed to take care of the power interruption by having an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) integrated with a solar power system and the main source, placed at the traffic light post for a stipulated back up period. Simultaneously, the IoT based smart system sends alarming message to maintenance personnel about the failure of power supply. If the fault is not attended and also UPS has reached the threshold of back up period, the system sends message to the nearest traffic police who manages the traffic jam manually
