ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to examine kinematic analysis of slap shot in field hockey and findThis study aimed to investigate the relationship between selected kinematic variables and performance of slap shot in field hockey. The data was collected from six male athletes belonging to the category of all India university level, selected through purposive sampling, using a CANON EOS 80 camera. The linear and angular kinematic variables were chosen forthis study, including the centre of gravity of the player at the moment of contact with the ball, the angle at the right elbow joint, angle at the left elbow joint, angle at the hip joint, angle at the right knee joint, and angle at the left knee joint. Kinovea version 0.95 was used to measure these variables. The performance of the slap shot was assessed using the Harbans Singh FieldHockey Test. The Pearson’s product moment correlation was used to determine the relationship between the selected kinematic variables and the performance of the slap shot in field hockey at a 0.05 level of significance. The statistical package for social science (SPSS) version 20 was used for analysis. The results indicated that there was no significant difference in the selected linear and kinematic variables.
