Knowledge and Attitude Regarding Impact of Pear Pressure And Time Management on The Academic Performance Among Undergraduate Dental Students: A Cross Sectional Study

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: For students to better manage their curriculum and achieve learning objectives, time management behaviors or skills are argued to improve the positive academic output. Pear group plays a large role in the social, emotional and academic development of students; therefore, understanding the prospects and challenges of peer group is crucial for the productivity of educational processes and the organizational design in order to improve student’s academic performance.

METHODS: In a tertiary care teaching hospital; a cross sectional survey was conducted. An offline questionnaire and descriptive statistics were calculated using SPSS version 23.

RESULTS: A total of 230 students took part with 187{81.30 present} of them being females and 43 being males {18.70 present}. In the study female dental students had more knowledge and a more positive attitude towards impact of peer pressure and time management on academic performance. In the present study most of the participants were I Years 23.01% followed by Interns 22.17%, IV Years 20%, II Years 18.70% &III Years 16.09%.

CONCLUSION: The finding revealed that is a strong and positive relationship between time management and peer pressure on academic performance. There is a significant impact of peer pressure and time management on academic performance.
