Knowledge and Awareness among Dental Students towards Cleidocranial Dysplasia

ABSTRACT
Background: Cleidocranial dysplasia is a genetic disorder which is characterized by skeletal and dental man festations. so It is necessary to provide awareness and knowledge among dental students about the characteristic features, diagnosis and treatment options. This study mainly aims at the disease manifestations and treatment options among the dental students between 20 to 25 years of age in khammam.
Aim: To assess the Knowledge and awareness towards Cleidocranial dysplasia among dental students.
Method: A cross sectional study was conducted among the dental students (III ,IV ,interns) in a tertiary care teaching hospital, khammam, using a web based tool called forms pro, a semi-structural online questionnaire was designed and distributed to the students in order to fill .Descriptive statistics and chi-square test were calculated using SPSS verson-29..A p- value <0.05 was used to evaluate statistical significance.
Result: A total of 242 students took part with females (37%) and males (63%).Age of participant’s ranges from 20-25 years. In this study male students have more knowledge and awareness regarding Cleidocranial dysplasia compared to females. IV year students have more knowledge followed by interns, followed by III year students.
Conclusion: the study result suggests that cleidocranial dysplasia knowledge and awareness level is adequate.
