ABSTRACT
This study was aimed at examining land use/land cover patterenin Konaseema region which lies in Godavari delta basin in East Godavari district in (1710.1 km2) Andhra Pradesh. The land use pattern will be useful for the detection of usage of land depend on various factors like humans and physical factors of that region. In this study we used the LISS-III image 2016 to derive information on the spatial variability of different land use / land cover categories. TheLISS – III dataset was geo-referenced with LCC / TM projection and WGS 84 datum. Ancillary data consisted of base details viz., administrative boundaries in Konaseema region (Tehsil, village and land cover categories). In the study region, significant categories being occurred in the deltaic ecosystem sucha as Sandbars (4.15 %) Plantation (21.3 %) River (5.8 %)Paddy (31.7 %) Builtup land (7.7 %) Aquaculture ( 15.75 %) Lankalu (6.09 %) Coastal Plantation (4.82 %) Mudflat (0.37 %) Mangrooves (5.44 %) Back Water (1.99 %) in total geographical area of study region. It was found that substantial changes in the Paddy and Aquaculture categories due to over culture of Aqua. that occurred mainly due to various anthropogenic activities. They must be restored for the welfare of the inhabitants who are largely depending upon the primary activities for their livelihood.
