ABSTRACT Lipomas are benign fatty tumours that usually do not pose any threat as such but can occasionally be a source of discomfort or self-image issues. People generally assume surgery is the only form of treatment; however, interest in complementary treatment through fat reduction is increasing. The purpose of this review is to evaluate the effect of different natural compounds and herbal medicine on the treatment of lipomas. Common herbs like Capsaicin(Chili peppers), Curcuma longa (turmeric), Ginger (Zingiber officinale)andgreen tea(Camellia sinensis) are considered effective in preventing fat deposition because of their anti-lipogenic actions and influence on fetal adipose tissue development. Purely natural products have been found to be able to lose fat and combat oxidative stress, e.g., pomace containing polyphenols or flavonoids, among other bioactive compounds. There are some forays into topical therapies, including essential oils such as frankincense and tea tree oil for possible enhancement. As such, this review of the pertinent literature focuses on the recent developments in herbal therapies for lipomas while usefully setting the groundwork for further clinical trial studies. It also expresses the concern that further clean therapy studies will be required to establish a therapeutic dose and consequence suppression is implemented
