ABSTRACT Grit is a construct of passion and perseverance for long-term goals. It is considered as a non-cognitive trait. Selfcontrol refers to an individual's ability to align their thoughts, feelings and behaviours in the face of momentary distractions. This study aims to find the relationship between grit and self-control and to find if there is a significant difference in grit as well as in self-control between genders. The sample consists of N = 150 (71 males and 79 females) undergraduate students. The tools used for the study are the grit-s scale (Duckworth & Quinn, 2009) and the brief self-control scale (Tangney et al., 2004). The results indicated that grit and self-control had a significant moderately positive correlation (r = 0.527). The independent sample t-test indicated that there is no significant difference in grit (t = -.975, df = 148, p> 0.05) and self-control (t = -.293, df = 148, p> 0.05) between males and females
