Microteaching, An Efficient Technique for Learning Effective Teaching

ABSTRACT

Microteaching a teacher training technique for learning teaching skills. It employs real teaching situation for developing skills and helps to get deeper knowledge regarding the art of teaching. The core skills of micro teaching such as presentation and reinforcement skills help the novice teachers to learn the art of teaching at ease and to the maximum extent. It is a training device that can be applied at various pre-service and in-service stages in the professional development of a teacher. According to Allen(1966)defined micro teaching as a “scaled down teaching encounter in class size and time”. According to Passi(1976) Micro teaching is a training technique which require of student teacher to teach a single concept using specified teaching skill to a small number of pupils in a short duration of time.
