Modern Trends of the Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Power Electronics and Electric Drives

ABSTRACT Numerous industrial and consumer applications, such as electric cars, renewable energy systems and home appliances, depend heavily on power electronics and driving systems. The increasing demand for better performance and efficiency has led to the development of artificial intelligence (AI) as a potential technique to enhance power electronics and drives systems' control, fault detection, energy management, and design optimization. An extensive overview of AI's uses in power electronics and drive systems is given in this article. An overview of power electronics, drives, and the role artificial intelligence plays in improving their functionality is given at the outset. The foundations of AI approaches, such as fuzzy logic, machine learning, and metaheuristic approaches, are then discussed. The paper discusses several uses of AI in power electronics and drives, such as energy management, problem diagnosis and prognosis, control and optimization, and design optimization.
