ABSTRACT
This paper, as the title implies, is concerned with the Arabic folktale Aladdin and the Wonderful Lampthat first appeared in the Arabian Nights or as it is called One Thousand and One Nights.The paper analyzes the tale’s structure into its smaller units,functions and dramatis personae, by applying Vladimir Propp’s theory of the Morphology of Folktales.
