Morphometric Analysis of a Drainage Basin using Geographical Information System in Tilganga Watershed, Upper Krishna Basin, Shirala, Walawa Tehsil, District Sangli, Maharashtra
Author Name : Uttam S. Patil, Dr. Jaydeep D. Nikam
ABSTRACT
The morphometric analysis of the river basin is a quantitative and mathematical analysis of the landforms. It playsa vital role in understanding the geology and the hydrogeological characteristics of a drainage basin in relation to morphological feature and their pattern. The watershed is stretched between latitude 170 05’24’’N to 170 01’48’’N and longitude 740 05’24’’E to 740 19’48’’ E in Survey of India Toposheet number 47 L/4 on scale 1:50000 located in Sangli district of the Maharashtra state in India. The present basin can address the morphometric of morphometric parameters such as stream order, stream length, bifurcation ratio, drainage density, stream frequency, texture ratio, elongation ratio, circularity ratio, and form factor ratio.
Keywords- Tilganga River Basin, GIS-Remote sensing, Morphometric analysis
