ABSTRACT Nanotechnology, operating at the atomic and molecular levels, offers innovative approaches to healthcare. By creating novel materials and technologies, it aims to enhance disease diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. Nanomedicines often surpass traditional pharmaceuticals in effectiveness. The blood-brain barrier, a protective shield around the brain and spinal cord, restricts the entry of many substances. This barrier, formed by blood vessels in the brain, carefully regulates the flow of chemicals into and out of the brain. Nanotechnology offers a promising avenue to overcome the challenges of delivering drugs across the blood-brain barrier (BBB). By harnessing the unique properties of materials at the nanoscale, researchers have developed various innovative drug delivery technologies, such as nanoparticles and liposomes, to effectively navigate this crucial barrier.
