NEP 2020: Transforming the Role of Teacher Educators

ABSTRACT Education is essential to the growth of every country, and its progress is contingent upon the caliber of its educators. The level of education and the success of students depend on several variables, such as the quantity of information teachers know, how diligently they work, the level of professionalism they ought to be, their dedication towards their work, and the degree to which motivated they are There is a big obstacle that must be overcome by governments all over the world in order to produce well trained educators who are able to deliver an education of the highest possible standard. In the light of new pedagogical and psychological theories, philosophy, sociology, and globalization, the task of a teacher has become more difficult due to the ever-increasing rate of knowledge. There is an urgent requirement, in our current day, for teacher education programmes that are both well-designed and creatively developed. In order to adapt to the ever-shifting requirements of the educational system, the current programme for the education of teachers had to be subjected to rigorous scrutiny and investigation, reformed, reconsidered, and reoriented. The Indian government has placed a great emphasis on ensuring that the country's educational system is of the highest possible standard. The Indian government has committed its efforts to encouraging excellence at each and every stage of the educational process in order to achieve an improvement in the overall quality of education at all levels. In the light of the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020), the primary objective of this study is to investigate how the responsibilities of educator preparation programmes are evolving. In addition to this, it clarifies the many functions that instructors should perform in the classroom in accordance with NEP 2020
