Occupational Stress of Male Doctors Working in Private and Government Hospitals: A Comparative Study with Reference to Gwalior City

ABSTRACT In the present research study, the effect of working experience is observed on the mean scores of Occupational Stress of Male doctors working in private and government hospitals of Gwalior city. Also, whether there exists a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the two groups concerning their Occupational stress.Data was collected through OSI by A.K Srivastav and Singh (1984) and the demographic data such as age, years of experience, and qualification was collected by distributing the questionnaires to the systematic randomly selected 40 male doctors between the ages of 25-45 years working in different major private and government hospitals of Gwalior. For statistical and descriptive analysis of the collected data,mean, variance, and z value was used with the help of Excelsheet. Parametric Z Test is used to find out significant differencesbetween the mean scores of two groups as it is an inferential study with the samplesize more than 30. The results revealed that there exists a significant difference between the means of the two groups since p value (0.0054) found to be lesser than 0.05 at the 0.05% level. Government male Doctors with less working experience between 1-5 years have high stress compared to doctors with more working experience. Total Occupational stress is seen more in Government hospital male doctors compared to private hospital male doctors.
