ABSTRACT
Oral route is most commonly used for administration of medicament since they are economical, easy to administer & high patient compliance as well as acceptance. It is used to acute medication since it is mobile drug delivery system. They are formulated using heating & congealing technique. It serves as novel dosage form with application in pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals and over the counter medicines.
At the present stage of development of the drug delivery system, oral administration remains safe and preferably route for administration of drug to achieve a better therapeutic effect. Now a days jelly candies is easily accepted by children with a full dentition as they enjoy its taste. Jellies are flavored with fruit juice and extract .The oral medicated jellies are, large, durable, excellent& palatable dosage meant that dissolve in mouth or pharynx and produce a local or systemic as the world's first prescription drug for osteoporosis in jelly formulation This review focuses on various aspects of the oral medicated jelly address briefly about its advantages, disadvantages, excipients, manufacturing method and evaluation parameters over the conventional dosage forms effect. Oral medicated, jelly are found in over-the-counter medications of a different flavor, such as strawberry, pineapple, mango, etc. The latest development of oral medicated jelly preparations is one of the new approaches aimed to improving safety and effectiveness. Oral Medication jellies were approved in 2012 by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare of Japan.
