Overveiw of Magic Leap 1 as an Ar Device

ABSTRACT The healthcare industry is quickly adopting extended reality technologies. Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) interfaces have benefits in a number of medical health domains, therefore it's no surprise that the medical MR business is one of the fastest-growing. In order to visualize 3D medical imaging data, the current study compares two of the most widely used MR head-mounted displays, the Magic Leap 1 and the Microsoft HoloLens 2. A user research in which surgeons and residents evaluated the viewing of 3D computer-generated anatomical models was used to examine the features and performance of both devices. Through a specialized medical imaging suite (Verima imaging suite), created by the Italian start-up company Witapps.r.l., the digital content is accessed. Our performance investigation indicates that there are no appreciable variations between the two devices in terms of frame rate. Due to the improved visualization quality and the simplicity of interacting with the 3D virtual content, the surgical crew clearly preferred Magic Leap 1. However, both devices demonstrated a positive evaluation of the spatial knowledge of the 3D anatomical model in terms of depth relations and spatial arrangement, despite Magic Leap 1's somewhat better questionnaire answers.
