Paradigmatic Exclusion of Thalassemia from Sociological Discourse in India and A Way Ahead

ABSTRACT As the disability studies are extensively progressing in India, there still exists a considerable degree of vacuum in the discourse that revolves around the disability studies, as the Indian disability discourse largely overlooks the rare disabilities and invisible disorders, one of which is Thalassemia. The present study aims to highlight the importance of extensive study of the condition of the persons living with Thalassemia in order to explore as to how, besides being a Physical Disability, Thalassemia is a Social Disability too and also to highlight that awareness is the only key to the prevention of the disorder
