PathFinder: Enhancing Student Commutes with City School's Bus Route Optimization

Author Name : Rajesh Dhake, Tilaksingh Chauhan, Nidhish Wakodikar, Vaishnavi Shivade, Shreenath Ubale, Vallabh Wasule

"PathFinder" solves the multi-objective School Bus Routing Problem (SBRP) and transforms student commutes by optimizing bus routes for City School.  The system takes into account asymmetric distances, capacity restrictions, and time constraints for each route in order to minimize the number of vehicles needed and the total distance traveled. Route optimization is based on realistic spatial data, which includes student locations saved in an Excel file. The Teaching-Learning-Based Optimization (TLBO) algorithm is used to optimize routes and determine bus. Folium is then used to visualize the routes which are present on a map. PathFinder is expected to improve school bus transportation systems' effectiveness and security. Keywords: School Bus Routing Problem (SBRP), multi-objective optimization, spatial data analysis, Teaching-Learning-Based Optimization (TLBO), school bus routing visualization, and transportation efficiency.
