Performance and Emission analysis of 4 stroke diesel engine using blend diesel at different load
Author Name : Shubham, Pankaj kumar
ABSTRACT
In this study direct mixing of waste cooking oil in diesel is used and analyses the performance and emission of four stroke diesel engine at different load. There are five different blend proportion is made with the help of waste cooking oil and DEE. The blends are D100, D90W10, D85W10DEE5, D80W10DEE10, and D90DEE10. Waste cooking oil has high viscosity compared to diesel i.e. it increases the overall viscosity of blend which adversely the performance of engine in term BTE which is decreases and BSFC increases as compared to diesel. But at full load condition there is improvement in carbon mono-oxide and hydrocarbon emission both are decreasing compared to diesel. And by using additive diethyl-ether(DEE) in waste cooking oil blend in diesel improves the combustion of fuel because DEE has high oxygen content, high cetane number low self-ignition temperature. DEE improves the break thermal efficiency and fuel consumption, and emission of carbon mono-oxides and hydrocarbon. The blend D80W10DEE10 shows the comparable result to diesel in term of efficiency, fuel consumption, and emission but at full load condition NOX emission is higher than diesel. And blend of diesel and DEE favourable result in terms of BTE, BSFC, CO, HC but the emission of NOX increases as compared to diesel.
