ABSTRACT
Pharmacogenomics is the study of how genes impact how an individual reacts to medications. This area merges genetics and pharmacology, the study of medications To create efficient, secure pharmaceuticals that can be provided depending on a person's heritage, (the study of genes and their functions) is necessary. Friedrich Vogel of Heidelberg, Germany first used the word "pharmacogenomics" in 1959. Pharmacogenomics is sometimes also called as Pharmacogenetics. It deals with the influence of acquired and inherited genetic variation on drug response patients by correlating gene expression or single nucleotide polymorphisms with pharmacokinetics(Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, Excretion)and pharmacodynamics.
