Poverty and Hunger Eradication Programmes in Cameroon: Challenges and Opportunities

ABSTRACT Cameroongovernment continues to struggle with the persistent challenges of poverty and hunger, notwithstanding its ongoing attempts to adopt many development initiatives and policies in recent decades. The study examine the impact of poverty on hunger in Cameroon with particular focus on the challenges and opportunities in the implementation of Safety Net Programme by World Food Programme (WFP) in partnership with the Cameroon government in Adawama region, Cameroon. The study was guided by sustainable theory postulated by Bettencourt and Kaur. Moreso, the study was qualitative in nature and utilizes casestudies available in the google scholars, and Scopus screened through visualization approach to provide a comprehensive understanding of the factors hindering the success of Safety Netprogramme, as well as establish potential opportunities to accelerate progress towards sustainable development.Primary and meta codes, as well as main themes, were identified by importing word transcripts into NVivo 10 program. They were processed using idea extraction and ongoing data comparisons between several participant groups to find patterns and variances.
